About Me

Hi, I'm Orrin, currently working as a freelance sound designer after graduating university with a first-class honours, where I studied Music and Sound Design. After starting my journey into audio by producing electronic music and learning bass guitar at 14, I soon realised that what really captivated me in my favourite pieces of media was the sound design, which eventually led me to game audio. I love exploring as many different faucets of audio as possible, and creating educational YouTube videos to teach others about sound design- I was even commissioned to make the jingle for my college radio station! My goal is to work in-house at a large studio one day.View my CV here.

Implementation

Hover Vehicle- Unreal Engine 4 + Wwise Implementation

I designed and implemented sound for this personal project, using Unreal Engine 4 and Wwise. It includes a full driving system, as well as a physics-based impact system.


Unreal Shooter Game- Unreal Engine 4 + Wwise Implementation

I designed and implemented sound for this sample project, using Unreal Engine 4 and Wwise. It includes dynamic ambiences and spot effects, as well as systems for gunfire and bullet impacts.


Deep Elder Caves- Unreal Engine 4 Implementation

I designed and implemented sound for this existing Unreal Engine project, using blueprints. It includes a dynamic footstep system, animated environmental triggers and a randomised water drip spawning system.


Unity 2D Game Kit- FMOD Project

I created a full FMOD project for this university assignment, to be implemented into Unity. It features dynamic footsteps and music layers, as well as randomised spot effects and ambience zones.The project was the winner of the 2024 Cloud Imperium Games Award.

Neura- UI Sound Library

I created and released a sound library for a university project, including sci-fi UI sounds that were made with source material that was either entirely synthesized, or entirely recorded.


Video Editing

I work as a freelance video editor for documentaries on Game Audio Learning, and the Aircon conference on Airwiggles.


Tanya- Prepared Balalaika: Kontakt Library

I created a full Kontakt library out of my vintage balalaika, containing 9 unique virtual instruments, and 5 noise profiles, to assist my live playing and allow others to experience the tactile sound of the instrument.Watch my breakdown of the design process including sampling, designing and scripting within Kontakt 5 here.
